4th West Pub

Byway 12's only bar — cold beer, tacos, no pretense

(357)
$$$$Escalante, UT

About

4th West Pub sits at 425 W Main St in Escalante, making it the only bar along the entire Scenic Byway 12 corridor. That alone earns it a spot on every itinerary passing through town on the way to or from Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, roughly 35 miles west of Bryce Canyon. It's a family-owned neighborhood pub with a genuinely local feel — no tourist-trap pricing, no performance.

Drinks

The bar carries more than 30 beers on the menu alongside craft cocktails. Whether you want a regional Utah craft brew or a straightforward mixed drink after a long trail day, options are here. The selection skews toward variety rather than deep taps of a single style.

Food

The kitchen keeps it simple with pub-style food: paninis, California-style street tacos, and nachos. It's not a full dinner menu, but it pairs well with a drink and holds you over after a late hike. The $$ price range means you won't break the bank.

Practical Notes

Hours run Tuesday through Saturday, 5–10 PM — closed Sunday and Monday. If you're arriving Sunday evening after a Bryce day trip, plan ahead. Outdoor seating is available, and the pub offers dine-in, takeout, and games for a relaxed evening wind-down in Escalante.

Hate to post a negative review, but felt it was necessary given the misleading 4.6 stars shown on google. Very awkward place. For being such a quiet bar in a small town you'd think they'd be happy to see you, but we felt like we were bothering them. Odd ordering method as well. We were the ONLY ones in there the entire time we were there (always a scary sign, but the options are very limited in the area on the night we were there)... And when the food came, we wished we went anywhere else. Burgers were NOT good, not sure how you mess up a burger, but they did.... and the chicken wings had probably the worst sauce I've ever had on a wing, tasted like something that was unhealthy. We both made it look like we ate to not offend them, and got out of there praying we didnt get food poisoning. No food poisoning, but just a hungry stomach and much lighter wallet the next day.

Very rude and entitled. In town looking for a place to eat dinner. Walked in as a family and asked to see the menu. They asked if we were all 21, which we are and they said they needed ID before even letting us see the menu after we had told them we are all 21. Completely rude people, lost a customer that was all 21 and older. Guess they don’t want customers. We walked out

The best bar in town. We had the steak nachos and tacos. Both awesome. Played pool afterwards and one of the games they stock in the front room.
