A quieter overlook with distinct rock formations and some of the best raven-watching in the park.
Agua Canyon Overlook sits along the Bryce Canyon scenic drive, roughly toward the southern end where the crowds thin out and the views shift into something a little different. The hoodoos here have their own character. You're not looking at the main amphitheater, you're looking at a more intimate canyon with layered formations that reward a slower pace.
The overlook is roadside accessible, which makes it genuinely easy to work into your drive. Pull over, walk a short distance to the viewpoint, and you've got a wide open view without much effort. During the off-season especially, parking is straightforward and the area stays quiet.
Ravens are a real presence here. They work the thermals along the canyon walls, and if you time it right you'll catch them gliding at eye level. For photographers, the far right edge of the viewing area is worth noting. The overlook structure frames the canyon behind it in a way that gives you a composed shot rather than just a wide landscape grab.
If you're doing the full Bryce Canyon scenic drive, Agua Canyon is one of the stops that earns its place. The southern overlooks don't always get the same attention as Sunset or Bryce Point, but that's part of what makes them worth the extra few miles. Less foot traffic, same stunning geology, and a perspective on the park you won't get from the main amphitheater viewpoints.

Agua Canyon Overlook truly impressed us with its unique rock formations and breathtaking views. From there, you have a fantastic panorama deep into the canyon and of the countless hoodoos in a variety of colors and shapes. We found the striking rock spires, which almost resemble sculptures, particularly fascinating. Compared to some of the more popular viewpoints, it was also a bit quieter, allowing us to enjoy the scenery in a more relaxed way. Definitely a worthwhile stop on a drive through Bryce Canyon National Park.
