American ATV Rentals Bryce Canyon

Self-guided ATV adventures through eight different biomes on 80 miles of scenic trails.

About

American ATV Rentals gives you the keys and lets you explore at your own pace. No tour guide talking over the engine noise, no stopping when you don't want to stop. Just you, your machine, and 80 miles of trails winding through some of southern Utah's most diverse terrain.

The Full-Day Experience

The full-day rental is the way to go. You'll cross through eight different biomes (yes, eight) as the trail climbs from desert scrub into pine forests and back down again. The scenery changes every few miles. Red rock gives way to aspen groves. Meadows open up where you least expect them. It's the kind of variety that makes eight hours feel like three.

David, the owner, runs a tight ship without being uptight about it. He'll walk you through everything during orientation (the legal stuff, where to go, what not to do) and then trust you to handle yourself out there. People appreciate that he actually cares about your experience, not just getting you out the door.

Your Options

The self-guided format means you can take that photo stop without asking permission or push through to the next viewpoint if you're feeling it.

They rent several types of vehicles:

  • ATVs for solo riders or couples

  • Quads for a classic off-road experience

  • Side-by-sides for families or larger groups

The trails connect well with trips to Bryce Canyon National Park (about 30 minutes away), making this a solid addition to a park-focused itinerary. Fair warning: even the skeptics end up converts. Something about controlling your own adventure through this landscape just works.

The rental location sits in Panguitch, right off Highway 89. Easy to find, plenty of parking for your truck and trailer if you're bringing one. They handle snowmobile rentals in winter too, same self-guided philosophy, different kind of fun.

We rented a side by side for 8 hours in August from American ATV Rentals in Panguitch. Panguitch is a very friendly little town and you are greeted at the rental place by the owner's dog Emo. You may even see him riding in an ATV with the owner on the way for his breakfast of eggs at a local restaurant! Dave gave us a very detailed instructions on how to run the ATV and also how to drive it through the 3 canyons we were planning on touring that day. On our way to American ATV we got a flat tire but Dave got us to the shop he uses for his ATV's. While we rode the side by side all day our flat tire was being fixed. The tire shop owner left our keys in the front seat of the car after being fixed so we were able to pick up our car after our ATV ride ( Tire shop was already closed). We dropped by the next morning to pay him. How is that for a friendly town? The week we were in Panguitch was rainy so the trails were hard to follow and we got caught in Casto Canyon during heavy rain & hail. The stream bed filled with water immediately and we were unable to cross any streams to go forward or to turn around & go back. We ate our lunch in the ATV while waiting for the stream to go down so we could safely cross (2 hrs!). Casto Canyon was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed that but since we had no trails to follow we didn't make it to the other two Canyon areas. Dave gave us a credit for another day to ride even though we did not ask him for that. We figured it was the luck of the draw what kind of weather we got. We rode again two days later. Dave is an honest business man who loves what he does & tries to make your ride as enjoyable for you as possible. You won't find a better company to deal with.

We had an incredible time on the 4 hour ride! The views were spectacular and the trail was perfect for first timers! I would highly reccomend this spot!

The UTV ride itself was good, however, the experience with the company was not. We showed up at our scheduled time and it was two hours before we actually hit the trail. The owner was sending two different groups off at the same time, both with different machines and different trails. We had to sit through the instructions for the other group's machines and had to wait while they were taken to their trail head. At the end of our time, we had to fill the UTVs with gas and hose them down. We also had to pay in full up front, with no opportunity for cancellation or refunds. I would look for other alternatives before booking with American ATV Rentals.

Dave was amazing. Great instructions and encouragement. Had a great time. We did not make it to the end as we stopped often for photos and videos. If you want to make it to the end and back it will take the full 4 hours. Also, if you’re afraid of heights, have someone else drive.
