Aspen-Mirror Lake

A still forest pond a half-mile off Highway 14

About

Aspen-Mirror Lake is a 15-acre pond a half-mile off Highway 14, reached by a flat, easy walk through a stand of aspen and pine just outside Duck Creek Village. On calm mornings the water lays flat enough to double the trees and sky above it, which is where the name comes from, and it's especially vivid in fall when the aspens turn. The lake sits inside Dixie National Forest at roughly 8,500 feet, so plan for cold mornings even in summer and snow-covered access outside the late-spring-through-fall window.

What's here

  • Shore fishing only — no boats or float tubes — for stocked rainbow trout running 10 to 13 inches
  • Vault toilets and picnic tables at the trailhead area
  • A short, flat, family-friendly walk in, though not stroller-friendly on the final stretch
  • Deer, marmots, and chipmunks are common sightings around the shoreline

Dogs are generally fine here, consistent with Forest Service land rather than National Park rules — this isn't inside Bryce Canyon's boundary.
