Log cabins four minutes from Bryce Canyon's entrance

Tropic, UT

About

Bryce Canyon Log Cabins — Happy Trails sits right on Highway 12 in Tropic, the small town closest to Bryce Canyon National Park's main entrance. The property offers standalone log cabins with full amenities, positioned about a four-minute drive from the park entrance, making it one of the most conveniently located lodging options in the corridor.

Cabins and Amenities

The log cabins are spacious, with an emphasis on comfort and open views of the surrounding canyon country. Each unit includes air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, flat-screen TV, and private parking. Rooms feature dining tables and are designed for families, couples, and independent travelers who want a home-like setup rather than a standard hotel room.

Location in Tropic

Tropic's Highway 12 strip puts you within walking distance of a gas station, the local market, hardware store, and a couple of restaurants — useful when you roll in late after a full day in the park. The park entrance is roughly four miles north, and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is under ten minutes east. The highway position also makes it a natural stopping point for travelers driving the full Scenic Byway 12 route between Bryce and Escalante.

Booking Notes

Tropic fills up during peak summer weeks and fall color season. If you're targeting early-morning hikes at Sunrise or Sunset Point, staying in Tropic cuts your drive time significantly compared to properties further out on the byway.

We had such a lovely and comfortable stay here. The host was very communicative and helpful and the location was gorgeous. The cabin was large and had solid AC. Solid wifi. One of the bes was more comfortable than the other We’d stay here again if we come back through town!

Bryce Canyon Log Cabins Happy Trails turned into more of an unhappy trails experience for us. While the cabins have a quirky, rustic charm and the location is convenient, the issues outweighed the positives. Our door lock stopped working, the room had a strong sewer smell, and on checkout day the power went out—leaving us to pack and get ready in the dark. With better maintenance and upkeep, this place could be great, but our stay was far from comfortable.

Booked a 1 night stay at the camper listing through Airbnb. Listing provided all bathroom essentials explicitly, such as towels, soap, etc. However, what was not provided on the listing was that there is NO HOT WATER. Water temperature was 50 degrees F and we had to vacate our stay, booking a nearby hotel last minute for a shower. Host never responded to concerns or request for a refund 3 days after stay. Advanced the issue to Airbnb customer support, after providing evidence of host negligence, was only granted a 30% refund because the lack of hot water was not considered a “total loss of stay”. Airbnb listing has also been reset to not show our review of our stay. Extremely shady and unprofessional business practices, would not recommend booking a stay with this company. UPDATE: After continued discussion with Airbnb, I was issued a full refund for my booking, still have received no communications from Bryce Cabins host.

Very, very dirty cabins. Allergies kicked in and had to leave early the next morning.....and I don't have allergies. LOTS of dust - tried to ask for refund to find next place -- no response from management at all - NOTHING. Sleep in your car instead is my suggestion.

It was amazing driving up to Tropic at night. And having no idea how pretty it is till the next morning. The cabin was warm, everything worked. Loved starting here before exploring. Super easy to get a reservation. We made it right before driving up from slc.
