Adams Head Trail
An unmaintained ridge route to a 10,403-foot summit above Panguitch.
About
The route to Adams Head climbs to a north-south ridge in the Dixie National Forest high country, then follows that ridge south with open views west over the Right Fork of Sanford Creek toward Panguitch before a steep final push to the 10,403-foot summit. From the top, Powell Point and several other named peaks come into view across the plateau.
This is an unmaintained backcountry route rather than a signed park trail — no mile markers or trailhead kiosk, and access typically starts up Pine Canyon by slow forest road. Hikers sometimes continue from Adams Head along the ridge toward the historic Powell Survey Cairn near Powell Point, erected in the 1870s by John Wesley Powell's survey party. Bring a topo map and expect route-finding; this is Forest Service backcountry, not a groomed visitor trail.
