Andy Nelson Peak

Kane County's high point, off-trail above Navajo Lake

(0)
Duck Creek Village, UT

About

Andy Nelson Peak tops out around 10,030 feet and holds the distinction of being the highest true summit in Kane County, reached from the Navajo Lake area near Duck Creek Village. The route runs about 4 miles round trip starting from the Lodge/Boat Ramp turnoff at Navajo Lake, and while it's short, it's not a maintained, signed trail the whole way — expect some route-finding and light bushwhacking rather than a clear tread underfoot.

Planning notes

  • Best done summer through fall, once the access road and upper slopes are clear of snow
  • Plenty of shade along the route, but no water sources — bring what you need
  • Dogs are commonly hiked off-leash here, standard for this Dixie National Forest terrain rather than National Park land
  • Often paired in one outing with the nearby Kane County High Point, a much shorter add-on

Camping is easy nearby, with several Navajo Lake campgrounds serving as a base for an early start.
