The short, shaded walk in to Aspen-Mirror Lake

About
The Aspen Mirror Trail is the short walk-in to Aspen-Mirror Lake, about half a mile each way from the trailhead off Highway 14 just west of Duck Creek Village. It's flat, easy, and shaded by aspen and pine nearly the whole way, which makes it one of the more relaxed short hikes in the area — good for families, casual walkers, or anyone headed out to fish the lake.
Trail basics
- About 1 mile round trip, minimal elevation change
- Winds through dense aspen-and-pine forest before opening onto the lakeshore
- Not stroller-friendly on the final approach despite the easy grade
- Good for birdwatching along the pond edge in addition to the lake itself
This is Dixie National Forest land, not National Park, so dogs are generally fine on the trail. Fall color here is a genuine draw, since calm water reflects the turning aspens along the shoreline.
