Beck Hollow Trail

Beck Hollow Trail (Forest Service Trail #031) runs through Dixie National Forest with views toward Barney Top and Canaan Mountain. It's a faint, difficult route recommended only for hikers with solid route-finding skills — the first stretch is easy to follow with good views to the south, but past about 2.6 miles the tread thins out and disappears in places, leaving old blazes on trees as the main guide.

Good to know

• Most hikers run it point-to-point with a shuttle, starting at Hogs Ranch Trail No. 030 off FR 152 and ending on FR 149
• Elevation gain runs around 1,160 feet; there's no reliable water along the way
• Foot, horseback, and bike travel only — no OHVs or e-bikes
• Ridges, saddles, and open meadows here turn dangerous fast in a thunderstorm, and mountain weather can shift quickly at any time of year
