About

Bryce UpTop Lodge delivers exactly what you need after a dusty day exploring the hoodoos: a clean bed and a hot meal. This straightforward motel sits right on Highway 12 in Bryce Canyon City, putting you minutes from the park entrance. Nothing fancy here, just the basics done right at prices that won't break the budget.

Restaurant and Dining

The attached steakhouse draws a local crowd (always a good sign). They keep things simple with classic American fare, heavy on the meat and potatoes. After hiking the Navajo Loop, you'll appreciate portions sized for hungry travelers. The dining room stays open later than most spots in town, which matters when you're catching sunset at Bryce Point.

Room Amenities

Rooms come with the standard motel setup:

  • Comfortable beds

  • Working AC

  • Hot showers

  • Free WiFi that actually works

The property operates with minimal staff, so you might find your key waiting on the counter rather than a person at check-in. Call ahead if you need anything specific. Some folks appreciate the self-service approach; others prefer more hands-on hospitality.

Prime Location

Location is the real selling point. You're a five-minute drive to Sunset Point, walking distance to the visitor center, and close enough to hear the shuttle buses heading into the park each morning. Gas stations, general store, and other restaurants all sit within a few blocks. For a place to crash between sunrise at Bryce Point and sunset at Inspiration Point, it gets the job done.

The lodge fills up fast during peak season (May through September), so book early if you're visiting when the park is busiest. Winter brings lower rates and fewer crowds, though some amenities might have reduced hours.

Too small room. Too old room.

After a long day of hiking, I found the room has no chairs, and the front office was incapable of finding a chair. So, it was uncomfortable to try to relax watching TV for a while.
