About

Bryce Valley Lodging is a small cabin property on Main Street in Tropic, Utah, about 15 minutes by car from Bryce Canyon National Park's entrance. Tropic sits just east of the park on the other side of the plateau, which means slightly longer drive times than staying in Bryce Canyon City but a more relaxed, small-town setting and generally lower prices.

Cabins and Amenities

The property offers 13 standalone cabins, each soundproofed and air-conditioned. All units include a patio, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and complimentary bottled water. Bathrooms come with either a bathtub or shower, toiletries, and a hair dryer. Free Wi-Fi and free self-parking are provided. BBQ grills are available on the grounds, and daily housekeeping is included.

Setting and Surroundings

The log cabin aesthetic fits the landscape — Tropic's Main Street has a handful of local restaurants and shops, and the surrounding valley offers open views of the red rock terrain that defines this stretch of southern Utah. Zion National Park is roughly 77 miles to the southwest, making Bryce Valley Lodging a workable stop on a multi-park itinerary if you're routing through Tropic on Scenic Byway 12.

Who It Suits

Travelers who want private cabin-style lodging rather than a standard motel room, at a price point below the larger resort properties near the park. It works for couples and small families. Book ahead in summer, as inventory is limited at 13 cabins and demand in Tropic peaks from May through September.

We booked this place last minute because of the weather...we were originally camping in Bryce Canyon NP. We were thankful to have the option of being inside during 40mph wind gusts and heavy sideways rain and snow. The staff were friendly and the check in process was easy. The room was mostly fine, but the door was crooked and hard to open. There were spaces in the door frame where you could literally see and hear outside and the door was crooked so it would scrape the floor as it opened. During the night, not only was the wind really loud, but we had to bring our sleeping bags in to keep warm because there was a thin blanket on the bed and the wind would blow through the cracks in the door frame making the cabin super cold. There was hair in some spots of the cabin, otherwise overall clean. The shower is super small. It was just right for me...a 4'11" girl. My boyfriend had a hard time with the spacing of it and he is your average height, not overweight guy. If you had a larger frame though, you would definitely have a hard time with this shower. Again, we were super thankful under circumstances to have this place to stay instead of our tent during the stormy weather, and with a few adjustments(cleanliness, door frame, and price), it would have been perfect. We recommend this as a last minute stay, especially since it was so close to the park.

This was a random extra adventure added in after Lake Powell. While in the area a stop at Bryce seemed fitting! What a gem!!! Great price, location and quality! It was cute to get our keys in a small town fashion at other location jusy across the street. The room was big, clean, AC already on before arrival and a great comfy bed. Would definitely stay again and the restaurant across the street is not only but convenient (we ate there twice)!

To be clear: I did not stay here. These are issues prior. I had a trip booked for August through expedia. A situation occurred with my family, resulting in the need to change the dates by 2 days (which they had availability for). I spent OVER A MONTH trying to get in contact with them, calling and leaving voicemails. No response. Expedia did the same. They never answered me, but Expedia let me know they refused to change the dates for me, which means I am unable to get my money back. It took over a month for expedia to hear back. If there was an issue with check-in or checkout, I wouldn't be able to wait a month for them to answer their phones. The lack of communication was very frustrating, and I wasted so much time on this. I frankly don't trust them due to their inability to help a customer prior to check-in.

This cottage was perfect for our stay. Its located in a very small town right outside of Bryce Canyon. There is a restaurant, grocery store, gas station, coffee shop & memorial for veterans all in walking distance. The cottage itself was very clean and accommodating. The beds were a little squeaky/hard and the ac unit had a wild noise coming from it but other than that our stay was great (:

We stayed two nights and while we knew we were booking basic cabins without a lot of thrills, I would be hard pressed to stay here again. The rooms were not clean at all. Cobwebs in the curtains, on the ceiling fan (that you can’t turn on), behind that bathroom door. The rooms themselves are adequate but we have stayed in similar cabins across the street and they were immaculate. These desire a lot. The front step on our cabin was broken and a trip hazard. There are no garbage cans on site so if you have food left overs you have to leave them in the room garbage. Litter everywhere around the property. When the wind blows the branches of the trees rub against the roof making it hard to sleep. This property has a lot of potential but is being severely ignored.
