Escalante Escapes

Modern tiny houses at the edge of Grand Staircase country

(414)
Escalante, UT

About

Escalante Escapes sits on four acres just off Scenic Byway 12 in the small town of Escalante — about 45 miles east of Bryce Canyon National Park and at the western edge of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. The property consists of nine modern tiny houses designed for small groups, offering a step up from standard motel lodging without sacrificing proximity to southern Utah's trail network.

Accommodations

Each tiny home sleeps up to four to six guests and comes fully equipped with high-end appliances, a kitchen, in-unit laundry, and a private outdoor deck. Guests report a working washing machine and dryer, a coffee maker, and strong Wi-Fi — practical details that matter on a longer trip. At night the decks are prime stargazing spots; light pollution in Escalante is minimal.

Location and Access

Escalante serves as a hub for Grand Staircase-Escalante hiking — the Escalante River Trailhead, Slot Canyon trails, and Calf Creek Falls are all within a short drive. Bryce Canyon's entrance is roughly a 45-minute drive west on UT-12, making this a viable base if you're splitting time between Bryce and the monument. The town's Escalante Mercantile and a handful of cafes handle most grocery and coffee needs.

Who It Suits

Pairs, families, or small friend groups who want more space and kitchen access than a standard motel room, and who plan to spend serious time hiking Grand Staircase trails in addition to Bryce. Book ahead — inventory is only nine units and summer fills quickly.

We had a wonderful stay at Escalante Escapes and were truly impressed from start to finish. The property was spotless, easy to access from the main road, and felt very safe and peaceful. Ben was an outstanding host—super responsive and always attentive to anything we needed. The tiny homes are modern, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. We especially loved being able to enjoy the beautiful night skies while still having all the comforts of a great shower and a very comfortable bed. The location is also perfect—close to a lovely restaurant and a charming coffee shop. This is an ideal spot for anyone looking to escape the crowds while still being surrounded by kind, welcoming locals. We would absolutely stay here again and look forward to coming back with extended family and friends. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! We stayed 3 nights in Holly Hock. Super clean, quiet and comfortable place with amazing view. Everything you could possible need is provided in these tiny homes. Great access to beautiful hikes, adventures in slot canyons and scenic drives. Host Ben is a great. You will not be disappointed here.

Desert Rose was the perfect place for my Utah adventures! A tiny footprint, but by no means was the place "tiny" inside. The amenities were everything I needed. Visited Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, and surrounding areas of Grand Staircase Escalante. Views from the porch were incredible. The neighborhood was quiet, and the local restaurants and businesses were friendly and convenient with great food and good advice.

Stayed here for a little Spring Break getaway to explore the area! We loved the tiny home and everything it has to offer, our kids enjoyed the bunk room as well! We found ourselves excited to return after a long day of hiking and exploring! It’s well stocked and super comfortable. The host was very quick to respond and help when needed, our neighbor’s tire was flat in the morning and the host came to pump it up for them and then pointed them in the direction of a place to take it! We highly recommend Escalante Escapes for your travel needs in the area!

We had a wonderful stay at the Moon Lily tiny house. The house had everything we needed, and It suited us so well that we changed our road trip plans so that we could stay another night. The house is ideally located as a base for adventures - for us that included the Burr Trail, Kodachrome Basin, and Bryce Canyon. We needed to prod ourselves to get out the door and explore as it was so enjoyable to have our coffee and watch the sunrise view from Moon Lily. We're already planning another visit to explore the Grand Staircase - Escalante region further. The folks at Escalante Escapes were very helpful to us, promptly responding to our questions and making sure we had a pleasant stay.
