Escalante, UT

About

Escalante Grand Resort sits on West Main Street in Escalante, Utah — the main gateway town for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and a key stop on Scenic Byway 12. The resort is directly across from the Escalante Interagency Visitor Center, making it easy to get maps, permits, and trail conditions before heading out. Bryce Canyon National Park is about 45 miles northwest, roughly a 50-minute drive.

Accommodations

The property spans multiple formats: cabins and vacation rental homes with private bathrooms, some with full kitchens or kitchenettes, plus tent sites and RV sites with 30/50-amp full hookups including water and sewer. Standout vacation rental options include the Little Dipper Casita and Big Dipper homes. All guests have access to free Wi-Fi. An on-site coffee shop and spa — featuring an infrared sauna and foot baths — adds a comfort layer unusual for a campground-style property.

On-Site Amenities

  • Clubhouse with check-in, small gift store, and game room
  • Coin-op laundry facilities
  • Playground and large sandbox area for kids
  • Fireside seating areas and picnic tables

Location and Access

Escalante's position on Byway 12 puts the resort within easy reach of Calf Creek Falls (about 15 miles east), Hole-In-The-Rock Road, and the Escalante River canyon system. The town has a grocery store and several restaurants, so resupply is straightforward after days spent in the backcountry.

We stayed 2 nights in a cabin here in 5/2026. They assigned cabin 37 which at first I was a little apprehensive about as it is situated right at the corner of the main road and the entrance. However, I was pleasantly surprised to hear little traffic during our stay. The cabin had a quaint country feel and was nicely decorated. The comfortable beds and bedding was probably the highlight of the cabin. I was also grateful the thermostat set heater was silent and maintained the temperature perfectly on the cooler days we were there. The cabin also had a stand up shower, toilet, sink, mini fridge (w/ freezer), microwave, and air conditioner. I was also impressed by the pre-arrival communication and had my cabin assignment and door code before we arrived. All the staff were friendly and filled any needs we had. The overall campground was unique. If you desire a location that feels like you are more in natural landscape, then this location might interest you more. But if you are looking for a bit more structure or defined layout to a campground, you might find it a bit messy. The rougher layout and some rougher looking long term RV units took it down a notch for me. Especially after charging a $16 "Resort" fee. I would likely stay here again for the quality of the service and quality of the Cabin.

My new go-to base camp in Grand Staircase-Escalante! Highly recommended—this will definitely be my go-to campsite whenever I’m in the area! We stayed in an RV with full hookups, and the pricing was extremely reasonable. Communication was top-notch from start to finish; they were super responsive and kept us fully informed. The property itself is fantastic. Beyond the RV spots, they have traditional campsites and a few free-standing cabins. I took a walk around the whole site and was thrilled to discover two cabins, Little Dipper and Big Dipper, perfectly perched on top of a hill for watching the sunrise. Amenities are stellar: clean restroom facilities, an awesome laundromat, and an incredible barista coffee setup up top where you check in. They even have more QR codes than you can shake a stick at for quick support if any issues pop up! Located in a cute town with tons of hiking and ATV trails nearby. You can't beat it!

Found this on Google randomly when we got stuck in the area during extremely high winds. We didn't want a second night of our tent almost collapsing on us, so we booked a last minute cabin. We would have been so grateful for just bare bones accommodations, but what we found was so much more awesome! Lynn was so welcoming and extremely helpful with places to eat, etc. The cabin had everything you could need and was clean and secure and also just a darling experience. The whole place is so gosh dang cute. Bed was comfy and clean. Fire pit outside is an awesome addition even though we couldn't use it due to fire restrictions. Free drip coffee in the morning was so good that I didn't even want a latte - though they do have a full service espresso bar available on site! You'll also find cute postcards, tumbled rocks, maps of the area, local geological facts and stuff. You can hang out in the reception/coffee area, which had seating and outlets. They have laundry downstairs (we didn't check it out though). And the whole property has free wifi! There are SO many amenities here for dogs as well!! I wish we had ours, but they hate going on the road, so we didn't get to take advantage of the dog park, wash station, or in-room pet blankets. On top of their cabins/casita, they also have tent sites and RV and van sites. One of the absolute best stops we've ever made on the road! Don't forget to hang out with Debbie (meow).

Overall it was a good stay, the best thing that I can say is that our neighbors were nice and we weren't packed in like sardines. However the hosts were incredibly rude and standoffish, at least we only had to deal with them at check in! We had our family reunion there and it was a running joke, any time we had to interact with them, we would bring the horror story to share with the rest of camp. Its a beautiful area but you need to understand your in the business of hospitality.

Our host was fantastic. There are tent, camper, van life sites and fully furnished cabins. We stayed end of June and hadn’t reserved anything, but there were a few cabins available. VERY comfortable beds, plenty of linens and towels, shampoo/conditioner/ body wash in our private bath. Very CLEAN! AC and heat, fridge/freezer and microwave. Laundry facilities, playground, dog washing on site. Highly recommend in Escalante!
