The Bryce Canyon area in southern Utah is known for its otherworldly hoodoo formations, pink cliffs, and vast stretches of high-elevation forest and canyon country. This dispersed camping area sits within Dixie National Forest near Bryce Canyon National Park, placing visitors in a high-elevation landscape of forested terrain and canyon country. The setting delivers the kind of scenery that draws people to southern Utah — open skies, layered rock formations visible from camp, and a sense of space that developed campgrounds rarely provide. Reviewers consistently note the breathtaking surroundings as a standout quality of the area. Because dispersed camping puts you directly in the forest rather than in a designated loop, the experience is quieter and more immersive than a standard campground stay. The proximity to Bryce Canyon means the iconic pink cliffs and hoodoo country are within reach for day trips.
Dixie National Forest is managed by the U.S. Forest Service and follows national forest access rules rather than National Park Service entry requirements. Many experiences in the area are seasonal, so confirming access conditions and any applicable requirements before you arrive is worthwhile. Road conditions to dispersed sites can vary significantly by season — spring snowmelt and summer monsoon rains can affect accessibility. Because structured facilities are limited in dispersed areas, visitors should arrive self-sufficient with water, food, and any gear needed for the duration of their stay. Check with the relevant ranger district ahead of your trip to confirm current conditions and any temporary closures.

Great Dispersed Camping near Bryce Canyon National Park!!! We visited this area in June 2026 in our 35th 5th Wheel and had an amazing time. This area has a 16 day stay limit and is about 15 minutes from the entrance of Bryce Canyon. Rigs of all sizes can find a spot here, and even in June there were so many spots to choose from. The 1st part of the road will lead you to shaded spots in trees, but if you go past the tree line you will find more wide open spots, perfect for those with solar and starlink. Across the street from the dispersed camping there is a parking lot that gives you access to the paved bike trail. This trail can take you to Bryce Canyon, or through the Red Canyon. If you need a break from the heat, I recommend visiting Tropic Reservoir. We went swimming here with the pup and loved it!

It is great, some have very large sites and far enough in-between. Allowed up to 16 nights. It is passable by A-Class, and have seen trailers and 5th wheel campers there as well. Of course, bring your own water, and generators.
